Hartalika Teej Puja is significantly performed by Women. Teej is a widely celebrated festival in honor of Mata Parvatiji reuniting with Bholenath. Goddess Parvati reunited with Shiva in her 108th birth after observing rigid fasting and rituals. Pleased at seeing her devotion, Bholenath accepted Goddess Parvati as his life consort. 

Married women or newly-married ones and single girls listen to Teej Vrat Katha to seek blessings for successful married life. Women observe fasting on this day.
