Annaprashan is the ceremony where the baby is introduced to solid foods preferably Sweet/Milk Rice for the first time. The puja is performed to bestow a very healthy and prosperous life for the baby.
Annaprashan is a Sanskrit word that means “Grain initiation or Rice feeding“. This refers to introducing solid food for the baby for the first time. Usually done after the Namakarana and is considered very auspicious as the baby can have solid foods. The child is usually fed with very small quantities of Rice or Kheer.
When to Perform Annaprashan / Rice Feeding Ceremony?
This ceremony is generally performed on the 6th or 7th month on a date that is compatible with the Janma Nakshatra of the child.

- Performing this Annaprasan puja helps the child to have good digestion and which will, in turn, help the child to grow healthy and strong.
- It is believed that anything unhealthy or any substance that will cause illness to the child will get cleansed once this puja is performed.
